The Great Lakes Environmental Alliance (G.L.E.A) was born when a group of  citizens concerned about a proposal to build a nuclear waste dump on the shores of Lake Huron met at a local rally and decided that they wanted to carry their commitment to environmental safety forward and decided to create an organization that would help safeguard the irreplaceable natural resources of the Great Lakes Basin not only from nuclear waste, but from any and all environmental hazards that threatened them. Less than a year later, the group has blossomed into a successful MI Nonprofit membership organization with dozens of successful events and informational campaigns held in the Port Huron Area.

The group is currently in the process of obtaining it's federal 501(c)(3) status so that all donations to the organization can be deducted on our donors' annual tax returns.
